LANDOVER, Md. (DC News Now) — The best gift this season for Washington Commanders fans is the team winning a game and some new merchandise.
It’s why the team store was packed on Christmas Eve as shoppers got geared up with the burgundy and gold. This was after the team defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Kaylin Jones was one of many shoppers who came to buy new merch for her boyfriend.
“It has been real fun today and I am so excited, and I am so glad to be out here Christmas Eve shopping, and I got some stuff for my man and I am just here at the last-minute getting things I want,” Jones said.
Despite being a D.C. native, Khary Smith is not a Commanders fan – his team is the San Francisco 49ers. But he still came to the team store and bought some jerseys for his brother who is a diehard Commaners fan.
“I think it is a special time now with the winning that’s going on and the energy in the city. I am here for my brother, and it is the right time that he gets a jersey to support his team because it’s needed and it has been a long time,” Smith said.
Jihaad Fadika said at least 300 customers have been buying merchandise all day and the most popular item is the team’s Quarterback Jayden Daniels jersey.
“We were so busy today and I’ve never seen so many people come in during the week but it just shows how much the Commanders fans appreciate the organization,” he said. “It shows how much the fans are behind the team.”
The store’s manager told DC News Now that they ended up selling out of the Quarterback Jayden Daniels jersey in the color, black.
