BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) has set up its Elk Cam once again for their breeding season.
The Elk Cam is situated in Southwest Buchanan County in a field that elk frequent. It follows the elk herd during their breeding season, otherwise known as the “rut.”
According to the DWR, elk frequent the field during the early morning hours and around dusk. As fall approaches and temperatures start to drop, elk will make more of an appearance on the Elk Cam.
Sometimes, the Elk Cam will also pick up sightings of wild turkeys, DWR said.
