Grieving family members and friends gathered Sunday afternoon in Rosemead at the site of a shooting that left a man dead to hold a vigil in his memory.
The deadly violence, according to authorities with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, unfolded on Nov. 29 just before 3 a.m. in the 7700 block of Garvey Avenue.
The victim, identified by family members as Paul Pacheco Jr., was declared dead at the scene.
Details are extremely limited and it’s unclear exactly what occurred, but officials said Pacheco was simply walking down the street when he was hit by gunfire.
Heartbroken family members said that the hardworking man loved his kids, was never involved in any gangs never got into any trouble.
“This just destroyed all of us. We’re all in shock,” the victim’s aunt, Sylvia Pacheco, said at the vigil. “I can’t believe that someone would just come and just shoot him for no reason. He was just minding his own business, walking, and they just shot him.”
Investigators have yet to release any additional information about the shooting, including a description of any potential suspects.
A GoFundMe campaign has been organized to help family members lay their loved one to rest.
