A Victorville mother is facing a possible criminal charge after she let her 12-year-old drive her vehicle, which then hit the mother, causing her to drop her infant.
The mother, whose identity was not released, was holding her child in the parking lot of the Rancho Seneca apartment complex just before 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The mother “gave permission to her 12-year-old child to move the vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex,” and as she stood near the driver’s door, the moving vehicle hit her, authorities said.
She then fell to the ground and dropped her infant, who sustained head injuries and was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
That baby’s condition is unknown.
The release listed the criminal charge as child endangerment, which can be a misdemeanor or a felony.
