A Redondo Beach family is asking for the community’s help to find the owners of a dog who bit their mother in an unprovoked attack that was captured on surveillance video.
The victim, Michelle Lara, told KTLA that she was out for her daily walk along Artesia Boulevard on Feb. 18 when a stranger’s dog suddenly jumped out of a nearby dog training facility and bit her on the left arm.
Lara said that the bite left bruising and reduced mobility in that arm.
She also says that she’d like to know more about the dog, but says she’s unable to get in touch with the dog’s owner.
“I would like to know if these shots are up to date, because my arm really hurts a lot, and I’m scared,” said Lara.
Lara mentioned that she did initially talk to the dog’s owner, but she claimed she was intentionally given a wrong number when she tried to follow up.
The Redondo Beach Police Department confirmed to KTLA on Sunday that they received calls for the dog attack, but that they can’t confirm any dog owner suspect was taken in custody.
Police said they were not searching for anyone related to this case as of Sunday night.
In addition to reaching out to police, Lara’s family has called animal control and is awaiting a response.
