Universal Studios Hollywood has revealed the ride vehicle for its upcoming “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” roller coaster, a high-speed outdoor attraction set to open in 2026.

Universal Studios Hollywood unveiled new details and a first look at its upcoming high-speed roller coaster, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” on Thursday. The ride is set to become the fastest in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio.

  • One of the ride vehicles for “Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift” is based on a model of Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger, which is already on display at the park.

Guests will travel at speeds up to 72 mph on the outdoor thrill ride. The new coaster will be the theme park’s first of its kind, featuring fully rotational ride vehicles designed to simulate the signature drifting action of the “Fast & Furious” film franchise. The state-of-the-art attraction will span 4,100 feet of track and incorporate sound-reduction technology for an immersive and quieter adrenaline rush, according to the theme park.

A new rendering and animatic video were released Thursday, giving fans a sneak peek of the sweeping coaster, which will soar over sections of the theme park, including the StarWay escalator that connects the Upper and Lower Lots.

Riders will queue inside a garage-style structure before boarding one of four cars inspired by the franchise’s iconic vehicles. A model of Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger is already on display at the park.

The ride’s advanced motion system allows for 360-degree spinning of the vehicles, giving guests a drifting effect as they race through the air — a feature that Universal says has never been used in this way before.

A specific opening date for the attraction has yet to be announced.
