Universal Studios Hollywood is bringing the big screen to life this summer with the debut of Universal Mega Movie Summer, an all-new seasonal event running daily from June 13 through Aug. 10.
The seasonal event is included with daily admission tickets or season passes.
Universal Mega Movie Summer promises immersive experiences based on some of Universal Pictures’ most iconic and anticipated films, including “Jurassic World Rebirth,” “Jaws,” “Back to the Future”, “Wicked” and “How to Train Your Dragon.”
Jurassic World—The Ride Featuring Mosasaurus Splash
An enhanced version of Jurassic World—The Ride will feature a Mosasaurus Splash finale and additional dinosaur effects inspired by “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which hits theaters July 2.
Guests can also meet a new dinosaur character alongside Blue the Velociraptor and Baby Tango and pose with a massive Spinosaurus photo op. A Jurassic-themed scavenger hunt will also challenge parkgoers throughout the area.
New food and drinks will also be coming to Jurassic Cafe and Isla Nubar.
Jaws 50th Anniversary
To mark the 50th anniversary of “Jaws,” the park is reinstating its iconic hanging shark photo op and introducing themed meet-and-greet characters, Capt. Quint and Chief Brody. The Studio Tour will spotlight the blockbuster on the replica Hollywood Sign and Jaws Lake, celebrating the Fourth of July all summer long.
Hollywood & Dine, located just inside the theme park’s main entry, will be transformed into Amity Island Cafe. The new menu will include a Lobster Roll, Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Fish and Chicken Basket, Shark Bait Burger and Shark Fin Funnel.
Back to the Future 40th Anniversary
Back to the Future fans can celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary with appearances by Doc Brown, Marty McFly and Einstein the dog. Theme food at Mel’s Diner—such as the Flux Capacitor Patty Melt and Outatime Cookie—will also be available.
“Wicked”
Elphaba and Glinda from “Wicked” will appear near the park entrance at a themed photo location.
In Universal Plaza, a towering Toothless sculpture from Universal’s live-action “How to Train Your Dragon” will be available for photo ops.
Universal described the Toothless sculpture as a “lifelike, 730-pound, larger-than-life sculpted dimensional dragon will tower at nearly 6’ in height, measuring 24’ in length and 8’ in width.”
A dedicated food cart within Universal Plaza will serve new treats, such as Toothless and Light Fury cookies and a Toothless popcorn bucket.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift
During the event, Universal is also giving guests an early look at the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster, set to open next year. Visitors will be able to see one of the new ride vehicles—a replica of Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger—on display in Universal Plaza.
CityWalk
CityWalk is also joining the celebration with new themed treats, movie merchandise and live DJ performances at the Five Towers Stage.
Universal Cinema will also host special screenings, including “Back to the Future,” on July 3 and display original costumes from “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
