A UKRAINIAN woman has been killed in a horror Valentine’s Day double shooting – with cops arresting her ex-partner.

Kateryna Tovmash, 21, was gunned down in her home in North Carolina on Saturday – before police cuffed 25-year-old Caleb Hayden Fosnaugh.

A second victim named Matthew Wade, 28, was also killed in the terrifying attack which unfolded at a property along Daphne Lane in Vass, according to Moore County police.

The victim’s brother Mykhailo claimed the suspect came to his sister’s house from Ohio – having travelled several hours to get there.

He claimed Fosnaugh entered the apartment where she was staying with her younger siblings.

Mykhailo alleged: “He forced one of our siblings to wake her up and then shot her in bed, taking her life.

“He also shot her boyfriend, who was sleeping next to her.”

Wade was a US Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg.

The suspect fled the scene after the shooting but was later arrested by cops in Ohio hours later.

Fosnaugh and Kateryna had previously been in a relationship when they were in Ohio, according to local cops.

The alleged shooter was charged with two counts of murder and breaking and entering for unlawfully entering the young woman’s home.

Cops said: “The Moore County Sheriff’s Office asks the community to keep the families and loved ones of Kateryna Tovmash and Matthew Wade in their thoughts and prayers,”

Kateryna had lived in the United States for about two years before her tragic death on Valentine’s Day.

She fled Ukraine following the start of Russia’s full-scale war.

It comes after Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, 23, was stabbed in the neck in the same state Kateryna was murdered in while riding the Charlotte light rail train home from work in August.

Disturbing surveillance footage of the stabbing sparked widespread outrage and calls for harsher punishments and a crackdown on repeat criminal offenders.

Brown had been arrested multiple times before he was seen on video attacking Zarutska, most recently released from jail on cashless bail in January 2025.

Kateryna’s brother noted on Sunday: “A refugee who fled the war in Ukraine seeking safety in the United States was murdered in her own home in North Carolina.

“This is the second time in the past year that a Ukrainian refugee hiding in North Carolina has been killed by a man.
