SODDEN villagers have recorded their 50th straight day of rain.
Cardinham in Cornwall last had a dry day on December 30 — and has since been beset by floods and road closures.
Resident Mandy Worrall said: “It’s been quite horrible.
“The rain has been incessant. The mud is just awful, it’s everywhere.
“There’s lots of trees down, the rivers are flowing extremely fast — but dogs have to be walked, so we’ve been out in it every day!”
Jimmy Bradley, who has lived there since 1995, added: “It’s been pretty miserable. We’ve got two kids and a dog, so we’ve been dragging ourselves outside for half an hour every day — and getting absolutely drenched.
“I work on the moors, and everything is flooded. It’s been tough getting anywhere.”
David Spurrell, who runs Woods Cafe, said: “We’re still open — and keeping the fire on every day.”
Primary school head Matt Larcombe admitted: “Being stuck indoors for hours on end is tricky.”
Elsewhere, Exeter, Liscombe, Camborne and Okehampton, all in the South West, have experienced between 43 and 49 days of continuous rain.
The Met Office reckons Britain will remain soaked until at least the middle of March.
So Cardinham might even beat its record of 72 consecutive rainy days set in 2000.
