Meanwhile, Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:) added 2.28% or 48.00 points to end at 2,152.00 and Prudential PLC (LON:) was up 1.96% or 11.80 points to 613.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:), which fell 20.06% or 95.40 points to trade at 380.10 at the close. Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:) declined 2.10% or 70.00 points to end at 3,272.00 and Howden Joinery Group Plc (LON:) was down 1.83% or 17.50 points to 938.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1095 to 663 and 713 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 20.06% or 95.40 to 380.10.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 1.50 to $2,544.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.21% or 1.45 to hit $67.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 1.21 to trade at $70.40 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 101.66.
