It was a new era for baseball coverage in Minnesota.

And the legendary voice of Bob Costas narrated an exciting, highly produced video to kick it off.

There was just one problem: it was not related to the Twins.

On a day when MLB TV dealt with widespread streaming issues, the Twins’ new TV channel launched by airing a video about the Guardians, an AL Central rival.

“Today marks a new era of Guardians television coverage,” Costas said in the video.

The video played for three minutes before someone figured out there was an issue with what was airing and switched over to the Twins broadcast, The Athletic reported.

The Twins joined the Guardians, Brewers, Rockies, Padres and Diamondbacks in having their games produced and broadcast by Major League Baseball.

Opening Day was a tough one for MLB TV, which had massive tech issues with Downdectector seeing a spike in reports around 3 p.m. as roughly 8,500 users reported issues and plenty took to social media to complain about the outages.

About an hour later, the league’s MLB TV customer service X account said it knew about the situation.

“We are aware of this issue and expect a resolution shortly. Sorry for the delay,” it wrote.

The issue was compounded in New York with the Mets’ broadcast partner, SNY, launching a direct-to-consumer subscription service that uses MLBTV, which was also impacted by the issues on Thursday.

The complaints grew to more than 21,000 by around 4 p.m., according to Variety.
