WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The race is tight between former president Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, as they vie for the White House. Harris is pushing for another debate against Trump, but Trump continues to reject that idea.
“We have a little thing called an election coming up and we’re going to win this election,” Trump said.
Trump is focused on driving up his support through border security and illegal immigration.
“A vote for Kamala Harris means 40 or 50 million more illegal aliens will invade across our borders,” Trump said.
Trump is doubling down on his position, against another debate.
“The problem with another debate is that it’s just too late. Voting has already started,” Trump said.
Harris says there is always time for a debate.
“Join me on the debate stage. Let’s have another debate. There’s more to talk about and voters of America deserve to hear,” Harris said.
Harris raised $27 million at a fundraiser in New York over the weekend. She says it showcases they are gaining momentum.
“It’s showing there’s a lot of support for our message and what we need to do,” Harris said.
During an event honoring the women’s soccer champions at the White House, President Joe Biden gave Harris a nod.
“A woman can do anything a man can do. Any man can do, including being President of the United States,” Biden said.
The vice presidential nominees will face off in a debate next Tuesday night.
Harris will travel to Pittsburgh later this week, while Trump continues his campaign in North Carolina.
