President Trump tore into Kristen Welker, moderator of NBC’s “Meet The Press,” over her questioning of a Republican lawmaker about a Signal leak of Pentagon attack plans that has consumed headlines for the past week.
“Kristen Welker’s entire first half hour of the Lowly Rated Meet the Fake Press this morning, was devoted to the boring Signal Witch Hunt,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website. “She doesn’t want to talk in detail about anything that matters like how well we are doing against the Houthis, substantive Peace Talks with Russia and Ukraine or, Iran, Iran, Iran.”
Welker pressed Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on Sunday over the incident, in which a journalist was added to a group chat that included Trump administration officials planning an attack on Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Trump has repeatedly dismissed the disclosure, published in The Atlantic, calling it “boring” and accusing media outlets of “obsessing” over the breach.
“Comcast’s MSNBC and NBC have fought me for years, spending almost all of their waking hours making up Fake Stories — and look, I’m PRESIDENT, with really high Poll Numbers and Great Accomplishments,” Trump wrote.
