A new report from The Wall Street Journal reveals that President Trump was notified in May that he was mentioned multiple times in the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Two White House officials described the conversation, which also included Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, as a “routine briefing” outlining the scope of the Justice Department’s findings. They emphasized that the mention of Trump’s name in the files was not the primary focus of the discussion.
Trump and Epstein had been friends for years, but their relationship ended well before Epstein died by suicide in jail in August 2019, shortly after his arrest on federal child sex trafficking charges. Epstein was also connected to numerous other wealthy and prominent figures, including Britain’s Prince Andrew.
Also on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the House Oversight Committee announced that it had issued a subpoena for Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted associate of Epstein, to testify from a federal prison in Florida.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration is working to calm growing unrest among supporters who suspect a conspiracy to shield Epstein’s clients, suppress video evidence of criminal acts, and hide other key materials.
