Burglars used a truck to break through the front of a Boyle Heights business in a failed attempt to steal an ATM early Tuesday, police said.
Officers responded to a burglary in progress call on the 2300 block of Whittier Boulevard shortly after 4:30 a.m.
Police arrived to find the front of PLS Check Cashers had been smashed in with glass and debris left on the ground, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to KTLA.
Investigators determined that an unknown number of suspects used a green truck to smash through the storefront in an attempt to take the ATM.
The suspects had fled the scene by the time police arrived, but nothing appeared to have been removed from the business.
No description of the suspects was provided.
KTLA’s Nancy Fontan contributed to this report.
