A TEENAGE boy who was tragically found dead inside a children’s home has been named.
Emergency crews scrambled to the scene in Catforth, Lancashire, on October 27 after the youth was found by a care worker.
The boy has now been named as 16-year-old Lucas Michael Johnson at an inquest opening at Preston Coroners’ Court last week.
Area Coroner Kate Bisset said that Lucas normally lived in Grimsby but was a resident at the children’s home at the time of his death.
A pre-inquest review is due to be held on November 28 which will decide what type of inquest needs to be held.
An Article 2 inquest investigates deaths to comply with the procedural obligations of Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects the right to life.
These differ from traditional inquests which focus on the cause, time, and place of death.
An Article 2 inquest is wider in scope and investigates whether an individuals right to life has been violated.
It looks into the actions of the state to see if they failed to protect the right to life when they knew or should have known there was a real and immediate risk.
