(NewsNation) — Trader Joe’s has passed up Publix and Costco as the new favorite grocery store for Americans.
A new report from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index shows the grocery chain has a satisfaction rating of 86 points for 2026 so far, up two points from 2025. Publix’s rating of 84 remained unchanged from last year.
In 2025, Publix held the title of America’s favorite store in the national survey.
Founded in California in 1967, Trader Joe’s has been known for its affordability, friendly employees and its viral tote bags. There are 631 locations across 43 states, with more than 30 additional locations to open soon.
Aldi and Costco’s rating of 81 remained the same from last year, with both stores appearing in the list’s top 10, while other stores like Target and Wegmans saw some drops in their scores.
Besides Trader Joe’s, only Save-a-Lot and H-E-B improved on their scores from last year.
