A new chapter for a book retailer.
Barnes & Noble is making a comeback.
The company is planning on opening 60 new locations nationwide, following strong sales in existing stores and BookTok, the hashtag subgenre of TikTok where users recommend books.
The hashtag itself has over 52.9 million posts.
“We are delighted to return to Brentwood with such a beautiful new Barnes & Noble,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “It has been worth the wait to find this fantastic space, just a five-minute drive from our previous location. We are very grateful to our team of booksellers for all their patience and hard work during the building out of the store. They have done a wonderful job and I know that they will be thrilled to welcome back their customers.”
Barnes & Noble says they opened more bookstores in 2024 than it had the whole decade from 2009 to 2019.
About a dozen stores have already opened since the start of the year.
