It was a wild morning for daytime television. Hours after Drew Barrymore let out a loud burp on her eponymous talk show, actor Nathan Lane surprised Joy Behar with a pizza delivery stripper to celebrate her upcoming 82nd birthday on The View.
Lane, who was promoting his new Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, kicked things off by complimenting Behar the moment he took his seat at the Hot Topics table.
“By the way, you do not look whatever age you’re admitting to. You have looked the same since 1998. You’re the Paul Rudd of daytime television,” Lane gushed, to which Behar joked, “You know what they say — black don’t crack, but Italian doesn’t either.”
Speaking of Behar’s Italian ancestry, Lane couldn’t leave his interview without introducing a birthday surprise for the longtime co-host.
“Because Joy is still a hot Italian woman, I have ordered Joy a hot Italian pizza,” he said, before a man holding a pizza box emerged from backstage.
The mystery gentleman ripped off his hat and “Hot Pizza” T-shirt, rolling his body and grinding on the floor to the music in front of a flustered Behar. Her co-hosts were equally as shocked as the man kissed Behar’s hand and rubbed her shoulders.
Behar, who was fanning herself at that point, was so distracted that Sara Haines had to remind her to toss to the commercial break.
“Our tanks to Nathan Lane. Where’s my pizza?” Behar called out, before finally adding, “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is streaming on Netflix. We’ll be right back.”
It’s safe to say that this year’s celebration was much more exciting than last year when Behar hilariously dismissed her birthday on the air.
“Let’s just do the show. I can’t get excited. I’m just glad I’m alive, okay?” she said at the time, per Entertainment Weekly. “You get to the point where you wake up in the morning and you just say, ‘I’m still here? My God.’”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
