Taylor Swift is an awkward subject for Tom Hiddleston, even ten years on from their split.
The actor briefly dated the singer for three months back in 2016, with Tom famously seen sporting an I Love TS T-shirt during one of their many loved-up outings.
And as the world’s biggest pop star, Taylor is one ex who is difficult to avoid, as proven when Tom headed to The Graham Norton Show for the New Year’s Eve special.
Tom, who was promoting the second series of his smash hit TV drama The Night Manager, was joined on the BBC chat show sofa by actress Laura Dern.
Host Graham was keen to point out Laura’s close bond with Taylor, who she has revealed she shares ‘a deep friendship’ with as well as starring in her 2022 music video Bejeweled.
After gushing about her pal, Laura launched into a hilarious tale about her interractions with Swifties, all whilst Tom sat poker faced just inches away.

Laura recalled how during a family holiday to Hawaii she and her children were worried she would be swarmed by fans after stumbling upon a Jurrassic Park attraction.
‘In that moment I was the most famous person that ever lived. I said to my young children “this is going to be a nightmare for mom guys”.
‘And suddenly I see these three teenage girls start to lose their minds and run toward me. Right under the Jurassic Park sign they yell “oh my god! You’re the girl in the Taylor Swift video!!’ she revealed.
The story did prompt laughter from Tom, but viewers were left cringing at the awkward connection.
‘His face says it all’ commented one fan on the BBC show’s YouTube channel. ‘He looks damned uncomfortable on that couch though, doesn’t he?’ agreed another.
‘lol this is a bit awkward with tom there eek you can see how he’s trying not to react bless him.’
‘I’m trying not to enjoy the awkwardness Tom is facing they dated a decade ago and it’s not a big deal, it’s fine, I’m pretty sure everyone’s cool about that……but it’s just funny how awkward tom gets when taylor is mentioned.’
Ten years on from their brief fling, Taylor is engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce whilst Tom is engaged to actress and novelist Zawe Ashton, with whom he shares two young children.

Tom has followed his fiancée Zawe’s lead, rarely speaking about their relationship aside from the three word declaration of ‘I’m very happy’ when asked about her in a 2022 interview.
Back in his Hiddleswift days, Tom behaved very differently. Tom and Taylor were first glimpsed out together as a couple in mid-June 2015, just after her breakup from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris.
By the end of that month, Taylor had introduced Tom to her parents in Nashville and he had introduced her to his mother in England, with pap pictures capturing the family interactions alongside Instagram posts of their double dates with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
They were constantly seen out together that summer, inspiring such a frenzy of publicity that after they split, Tom found himself denying allegations that they had engaged in a ‘showmance’.
