‘The Kitchen’ Returning With Special Episode As Cast Say Food Network “Made A Mistake” Canceling Show

Food Network doesn’t seem to be done with The Kitchen, and the cast of the cooking series just gave an update.

Although the show ended its run in December 2025, the cast is set to reunite to film a special for the network.

“We are filming a special episode of The Kitchen. It’ll be on the air,” Jeff Mauro said on Katie Lee Biegel’s podcast All On the Table.

Biegel confirmed they were “filming one more episode” of the talk show and hinted it would air sometime in March.

Geoffrey Mauro also noted that The Kitchen has continued to air on the Food Network, and audiences have been watching “repacks” of the show.

Different hosts took turns hosting rerun specials, which have been airing on weekends, which Zakarian said, “12 more weeks for Food Network to realize they’ve made a mistake” in canceling the show.

Biegel added, “They did make a mistake, didn’t they?”

Mauro expressed a similar sentiment, saying, “I think I’m not afraid to say that out loud.” He noted that when he gets approached by fans, they bring up The Kitchen and ask why the network canceled it.

“It’s like canceling Jeopardy — nobody does that,” Zakarian said before Mauro continued, “It was appointment television in a world where there’s no appointment television.”

Biegel reflected on what happened to the show and why Food Network opted not to renew the show.

“I think it was a perfect storm of things that were out of our control of contracts ending, trying to sell Warner Bros. Discovery, wanting to keep their balance sheet low,” she said. “It wasn’t about ratings or about what fans wanted. And honestly, it made me feel so good the way that people responded.”

She continued, “I knew people watched The Kitchen but I didn’t know that people were so passionate about it. It felt so good to know that we connected with people and became part of their Saturday morning.”

Although they are not hopeful about The Kitchen returning, they were surprised by the special episode. Biegel and Zakarian tease that in the special episode, they both travel to Qatar with Biegel revealing, “We had a ball going. Geoffrey shows up at the airport in a full seersucker suit.”

Deadline reached out to Food Network for comment.

The Kitchen ran from 2014 to 2025, and the show’s cast also included Sunny Anderson and Alex Guarnaschelli.
