A TEEN who raped a 14-year-old girl on a train platform has been finally be jailed after the incident happened six years ago.
Marvin Ogbogbo, 23, was aged 17 when he groomed a girl online after meeting her on social media, then raped her at a train station in Essex.
The brave victim came forward in October 2024, leading to an investigation by British Transport Police (BTP).
The two met at Lakeside shopping Centre in Essex in 2019, after the then 17-year-old teen invited the 14-year-old girl out shopping.
They spent the day at the shopping centre before heading to Chafford Hundred Station so Ogbogbo could return to London.
Whilst waiting for the train, he directed her to a sheltered seating area on the platform and repeatedly asked her to sit on her lap before raping her.
He then fled on a train to London, leaving the victim on the station.
The young girl came forward five years later to report the attack to police.
A full investigation was launched, and Ogbogbo was identified on December 23, 2024.
He was arrested at the police station, where he was required to attend weekly as part of bail conditions for another matter.
The moment he was arrested has been caught on a police bodycam as Ogbogbo was regularly attending Barking police station whilst on bail for another unrelated matter.
A cop can be heard telling Ogbogbo: “You’re currently shown as wanted, ok, for suspicion of a rape that occurred between 1 April and 31 July in 2019.”
The officer added: “So at this moment in time you’re under arrest.”
Wearing a black North Face coat with his hood up, Ogbogbo appears stunned and caught unaware.
“He cowered in custody when he realised he had been caught for a crime he committed five years ago,” captions on the video shared by BTP stated.
The East London man was found guilty of rape last month following a week-long trial at Isleworth Crown Court.
He was sentenced to four years in prison, and has been required to sign the sex offenders register for life.
A restraining order was handed to Ogbogbo not to contact the victim.
Ogbogbo denied the allegations, and made out to cops that he only kissed the girl at the Essex station in 2019.
British Transport Police’s Detective Constable Jennifer Brown said: “Putting Ogbogbo behind bars for this abhorrent rape is testament to the victim who showed immense bravery in reporting what happened to her.
“Ogbogbo is a vile predator who targeted an underage girl and groomed her for his own sexual gratification.
“We take every report of sexual violence extremely seriously and will always launch a full investigation no matter how much time has passed.”
