A WOMAN in her 50s has been found dead inside a home as cops arrest a teenage girl in connection with the “serious incident”.
Police were called to a property in Moredon, Wilts, at around 7pm today.
Officers discovered a woman inside the house, in Baydon Close, who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no other reported injuries and her next of kin are being supported.
A teenage girl was arrested in connection and remains in custody while investigations continue.
Wiltshire Police have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else.
A spokesperson for the force said: “A scene has been set up at the property while enquiries are carried out to establish the full circumstances around the woman’s death.
“A teenage girl has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been taken into custody for questioning.”
DI Darren Ambrose from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died.
“We have set up a cordon at the address while an investigation is carried out. This is likely to remain in place overnight and throughout tomorrow.
“I can confirm that we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else.
“We would encourage people not to speculate on the circumstances around this incident.
“We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to an officer.”
