Teagan O’Dell captured the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly and Bennett Korner won the 200 individual medley as Santa Margarita’s girls and boys claimed team titles in their debut at the Mt. SAC Winterfest Championships on Saturday.
The Cal-bound O’Dell blazed a time of 1 minute, 43.95 seconds in the 200 free and touched in 52.73 in the butterfly.
O’Dell, a three-time Register O.C. female swimmer of the year, led off the winning 200 free relay (1:31.88) in a sizzling 22.59 seconds. The time was about two-tenths of a second off her county record of 22.40 from 2023.
Gracyn Aquino, a senior who also is committed to Cal, won the 50 free (22.97) for the Eagles, who scored 1,022 points to outdistance runner-up Clovis West (467).
Korner, a junior, won the 200 IM in 1:51.42 for the Santa Margarita boys, who tallied 827 points to outscore Granite Bay (547) and Oak Ridge (503).

At the Mission Viejo Invitational:
Mater Dei’s Elonzo Santos won the 200 IM (1:52.67) and 100 breaststroke (meet-record 55.13) and Leonel Cerda touched first in the butterfly (50.13) to pace county swimmers at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex in the 50th edition of the meet.
In diving, Natalia San Jose of Mission Viejo (483.30) and Chase Shipp of Laguna Beach (518.75) won the girls and boys titles, respectively.
At the Sailor Dive Invite:
Corinna Ruffini of Newport Harbor (583.80) and Johnathon Reidel of Capistrano Valley (503.75) won the girls and boys titles, respectively, at Ocean View High.
