The Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the operation is related to the disappearance of the mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie.

TUCSON, Ariz — The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said its SWAT team was in a Tucson neighborhood on Friday night, conducting an operation related to Nancy Guthrie.

A parade of sheriff’s and FBI vehicles, including forensics vehicles, passed through the roadblock that was set up about 2 miles from the house of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie. Pima County officials said on the platform X that there would be no press conference Friday night and that a written statement was “forthcoming.”

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on Saturday, Jan. 31. Sheriff’s officials near her southern Arizona home and the FBI believe sometime overnight into Sunday she was forcibly taken from her house.

Earlier this week, authorities released newly recovered images and video of an armed gunman who reportedly tampered with the surveillance camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home on the morning of her disappearance.

In posts on X, FBI Director Kash Patel shared four photos that showed a large figure wearing what appears to be a backpack and a ski mask, along with gloves and a zip-up jacket. What appears to be a gun can be seen in the waistband of the person.

In a series of videos released a few minutes later, the person is seen putting their hand in front of the camera, before grabbing some kind of plant from the front yard and sticking it in front of the lens to block it.

The FBI has launched a new webpage about Guthrie’s disappearance, featuring photos and videos from the case.

The story will be updated as more information becomes available.
