Suspected squatters take over RV storage lot in City of Industry

A group of suspected squatters are being accused of taking over an RV storage lot in the City of Industry despite efforts to evict them.

Sky5 showed several RVs with the roofs torn out and garbage piled up throughout the lot Tuesday morning.

The Blackseries RVs are being stored on a fenced-off portion of the property but people began moving into them over the past two years, with the situation getting completely out of control since December, according to some who work in the area.

“All the trailers are damaged, broken, flipped over … they’ve been set on fire so there’s been big fires. You know we have to go look, make sure it’s not our cars that are caught on fire,” said Gerardo Torres who works nearby.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis said that while the property is located within the City of Industry, the issue is a private dispute between the owners and a private party.

“It is my understanding that on September 6, 2024, the property owner initiated legal proceedings to regain possession of the site. After completing the necessary legal steps, the owner recently obtained a judgment for possession,” Solis said in a statement.

The lot is apparently rented out to the Blackseries RV company and some of the people living there say they are paying rent to someone, although it’s unclear who that might be.

The property manager says they now have an eviction order and hope the lot can be cleared shortly.
