An investigation is underway after police responding to a burglary call in East Hollywood opened fire on a suspect Thursday morning.
Officers were called to the 500 block of Alexandria Avenue around 4 a.m., a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.
Once at the scene, police confronted the suspect and a shooting involving at least one officer occurred, the spokesperson said.
No further details about what prompted the officer, or officers, to open fire were immediately available.
The suspect, described as a man between 25 and 30 years old, was struck by the gunfire.
There was no word on the condition of the suspect or whether anyone was transported from the scene.
No officers were injured in the incident.
