A suspect was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase with a stolen van in Santa Monica Wednesday night.
The male driver drove recklessly and at times, traveled on the wrong side of the road while narrowly missing pedestrians, bicyclists and other vehicles.
He ran through red lights and continued speeding away before ditching the work van near Colorado Avenue and Main Street and fleeing on foot.

He ran towards the Santa Monica Pier as stunned bystanders looked on. He eventually laid down and surrendered to officers under the pier sign.
The pursuit began out of Simi Valley before the suspect hit the freeway and traveled to the Santa Monica area.
It’s unclear where the work van was initially stolen from.
