A man in is in custody after a dangerous high-speed chase across Southern California freeways and into downtown Los Angeles.
It’s unclear what time or where exactly the pursuit was initiated, though deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were chasing a driver in the area of Long Beach at around 5:30 p.m. before cancelling their involvement.
So far, KTLA has been unable to confirm if this was the same suspect.
When CHP picked up the pursuit from their helicopter, the suspect was traveling on the northbound 110 Freeway and was seen driving on the shoulder of the roadway in moderate to heavy traffic, as well as weaving in and out of other motorists.
The suspect, behind the wheel of what appeared to be a white SUV, exited the freeway onto surface streets in downtown L.A. where they were seen blowing through stoplights and endangering other drivers.
L.A. police briefly joinedn the chase in the downtown area, as the stolen vehicle suspect was driving at a high-speed on the wrong side of the road.
On Glendale Boulevard, the suspect blew through an intersection and was hit by another vehicle, disabling the white SUV.
The male suspect attempted to flee on foot and was quickly apprehended by CHP.
