Police were involved in a deadly shooting Monday night with a man who was allegedly armed with a gun and chasing people.
Officers were sent to the area of Murchison Avenue and Stratus Drive in Pomona just after 10 p.m. when a 911 call was made to the Pomona Police Department.
The caller said a man with a gun was chasing two other people, a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated.
Arriving officers spotted a person matching the suspect’s description. “When officers attempted to contact the male, the suspect produced a firearm, and an officer-involved shooting occurred,” the release stated.
The unidentified suspect was given medical aid by officers but was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
A firearm believed to belong to the suspect was recovered at the scene.
Sheriff’s Department’s homicide investigators are continuing the investigation into the incident.
