DULLES, Va. (DC News Now) — Projected Congressman-elect Suhas Subramanyam is vowing to be a congressman for all Virginians, after declaring victory over republican Mike Clancy in the commonwealth’s 10th District.
“We need to make sure I’m a voice for all Virginians. That means hearing ideas from people who voted for Mike Clancy, and hearing from Clancy too, talking to all the people who voted against me. My office is open,” Subramanyam told DC News Now.
With an open seat, this race had been a key focus for both the right and the left in 2024, possibly shifting the balance of power in the House.
The region is notoriously purple, stretching across parts of Loudoun and Prince William counties in Northern Virginia.
The incumbent congresswoman, Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D) did not seek re-election, leaving the seat in the House of Representatives due to health concerns.
DC News Now also asked Subramanyam about his “first 100 days” in office and what his top priorities are.
“First, we need a strong economy that works for everyone. Second, protecting federal workers in Northern Virginia and protecting manufacturing,” he said.
