Baristas at your local Starbucks will soon be sporting a new, more consistent look after the company announced a new dress code on Monday.
The change is part of CEO Brian Niccol’s effort to overhaul the coffee chain’s image with “simplified color options that allow our iconic green apron to shine,” the company’s website stated.
“The more defined color palette includes any solid black short and long-sleeved crewneck, collared, or button-up shirts and any shade of khaki, black, or blue denim bottoms,” according to the site.
Starbucks will also provide Baristas with two company-branded T-shirts at no cost.
“Our green apron partners have played a big role in bringing it all to life – from writing on cups to free refills and the coffeehouse experience,” the website reads.
KTLA Morning News anchor Megan Henderson has been pleasantly surprised by one of those changes.
“I’ve already noticed the consistent messages on my cup and they make me happy,” Megan said. “Sometimes they’ll put a heart. Sometimes, they’ll say, ‘Have a great day,’ … They write little messages, which was part of the CEO’s bringing that back. That used to be a consistent thing at Starbucks and it actually does make me feel good.”
The new dress code goes into effect on May 12.
