A rocket launch Monday night created an out-of-this-world effect on a Shohei Ohtani mural in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo community.
Video of the extraordinary sight was posted to TikTok and shared with KTLA by @trishieeann.
“I LOVE LA! 💙 Shohei Dodgers Pitching Debut with SpaceX Starlink Launch in Little Tokyo 🚀,” the post reads.
The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base around 8:30 p.m.
A streak of light coming off the rocket could be seen across Southern California, thanks to clear skies.
The event had a special effect on the Shohei mural on the side of the Miyako Hotel in Los Angeles, as it appeared to show smoke coming off the slugger’s bat as he takes a swing.
