A deep marine layer and onshore flow promise to keep temperatures below average on Thursday while a storm system prepares to bring a threat of showers to the region this weekend.
“By and large, all of us will settle into a really nice day,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Thursday. “We do have a little weak disturbance to the north that will at least brush parts of the mountain and foothill areas, and maybe we actually get some pop-up showers later today.”
Any activity is expected to remain further inland, where a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms is also a possibility, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
“Even cooler temperatures will occur over the weekend with a renewed threat of occasional showers,” the NWS stated in Thursday’s forecast discussion.
Sunday’s storm appears to be more organized than today’s, Henry said. “We’re talking about the chance of more widespread showers and we could see some thunderstorms.”
Overall, the system is expected to be “more of an inconvenience on Sunday than anything else,” Henry said.
Any rainfall rates and totals are expected to be on the low, non-impactful side, according to the NWS.
