The early spring has been a mixed bag for Southern California’s weather thus far. That won’t change in the next couple of days.
Many across parts of Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties woke up Sunday to cloudy skies and even a bit of rain.
According to forecasters, that rain would clear up by midday Sunday, but the clouds could linger and wet weather is likely to return in small doses overnight.
“Scattered showers starting to break up [in the late morning],” said KTLA meteorologist Kacey Montoya. “Most of us are going to stay dry for the rest of the day until [Sunday night].”
The springtime gloom is due to a low pressure system hanging over the region, according to the National Weather Service. As a Sunday morning bulletin reads, the lingering clouds are bringing weak amounts of precipitation, so any remaining showers won’t last long or pack much of a punch.
Rain chances on late Sunday and early Monday throughout Southern California area as follows, according to the NWS:
- Santa Barbara: 75%
- Oxnard: 71%
- Thousand Oaks: 71%
- Santa Clarita: 67%
- Lancaster: 24%
- Los Angeles: 67%

- Irvine: 38%
- Ontario: 31%
- Riverside: 27%
- Lake Elsinore: 33%
- San Bernardino: 25%
- Temecula: 32%
Rain totals for the aforementioned areas are likely to stay at or below one-half of an inch from Sunday-to-Monday, the NWS said.
