A Southern California man was arrested for the alleged sexual assault of two teenage girls.
The suspect was identified as Peter Michael Mejia, 27, Redlands, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.
On Feb. 13, detectives received reports about a man allegedly having sexual relationships with several juveniles.
The man had been communicating with the underage victims through social media. He would usually pick them up in his car before engaging in sexual acts with them, police said.
Mejia was later identified as the suspect involved. On Feb. 17, he was located in Beaumont where he was taken into custody.
He was arrested on multiple counts of lewd acts with a minor and possession of child pornography.
“Due to the arrestee’s access to young girls through social media, detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying potential additional victims Mejia might have had access to via any social platform,” detectives said.
Anyone who may have been a victim of Mejia or has information on the case is asked to call Detective Michael Luu at 714-754-5356 or Sergeant Jake Jacobi at 714-754-5352.
