A 33-year-old man from San Bernardino County involved in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash over the weekend has succumbed to his injuries and died, officials announced.
The victim, Andrew Herrera, a resident of Apple Valley, was traveling eastbound on a dirt easement along Otoe Road, west of Cheyenne Road on March 15 when he lost control of his motorcycle, a blue 2024 Yamaha XTZ 690, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
When the motorcycle flipped, Herrera, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected.
Deputies from the sheriff department’s Apple Valley Station responded to the scene just before 7:30 p.m. and found the 33-year-old suffering from major injuries.
Herrera was rushed to the hospital by ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
Otoe Road, between the intersections of Quantico and Navajo roads, was closed for approximately three hours while authorities with SBSD’s Major Accident Investigation Team processed the scene and spoke to witnesses.
Authorities did not provide any additional details, such as whether alcohol and or drugs or illegal street racing may have been a factor in the deadly accident.
