A cool and wet start to the week is underway for Southern California Monday morning with forecasters adding gusty winds to the mix as well.
Overnight showers left roadways slick for Southland commuters with “light rainfall through the afternoon hours” expected, KTLA’s Kirk Hawkins said.
Rain totals are expected to remain relatively light with Monday’s showers bringing around a quarter of an inch or less to most areas of Los Angeles County.
The National Weather Service (NWS) expects “no major flooding or debris flow threats.”
Wind advisories are in place Monday morning through early Wednesday for portions of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
“The majority of the areas impacted are a little more inland,” Kirk said. Winds between 25 and 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph are forecast for the mountain areas of the Inland Empire.
Temperatures around the region are expected to remain below average all week with forecasters calling for another chance of rain Thursday.
“There is a slight chance of light rain Thursday afternoon and evening, then dry weather is expected Friday through the weekend, with a warming trend,” the NWS stated.
