A fiery crash in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood of South Los Angeles heavily damaged a church hours before Sunday morning worship.
The crash was reported at 2:49 a.m. at First AME Zion Church on West Adams Boulevard and involved multiple vehicles, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Responding firefighters located a red sedan flipped onto its side that was engulfed in flames.
Video from the scene shows crews dousing the fire while the car was still on the sidewalk immediately adjacent to the church.
The red sedan involved in the crash collided with several cars parked on the street outside the church, including a pickup truck, a white sedan and a Jeep.
According to Ezra T. Maize, the pastor of First AME Zion Church, the damage to the structure is “extensive” and that there is still a massive cleanup that needs to be done.
The church held their 10 a.m. Sunday Service “as best as they could,” the pastor said.
