The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Friday announced the arrest of a 29-year-old Azusa man in a double homicide earlier this month, confirming reports that the suspected killer is the son of the two people found dead.
Gabriel Contreras, 28, allegedly stabbed his parents, Linda Rodriguez and Arthur Contreras, to death Saturday afternoon, the department said in a news release.
The younger Contreras was hospitalized with stab wounds of his own and was in critical condition after the attack, though he was arrested on Wednesday.
He’s been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
Contreras is being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in lieu of $2 million bail. He was due to appear in Pomona Municipal Court on Friday.
