Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update segment took one of the week’s hot topics, including Donald Trump at the Notre Dame Cathedral reopening, digs at Fox News host Pete Hegseth, and jabs at Joe Biden.
Trump returned to the world stage after being elected the 47th president of the United States and made an appearance in Paris for the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral.
“Donald Trump today made his first trip abroad since the election traveling to Paris for the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral — where he rang the bell,” Michael Che said as an image of Trump as Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame character.
Pete Hegseth, who Trump nominated for the Secretary of Defense, was in the news this week after an email from his mother was made public where she says he belittled women.
“It was reported that in 2018, the mother of Pete Hegseth, sent her son an email saying that she was embarrassed by the way he repeatedly belittles, lies, cheats, and uses women for his own power and ego, to which Pete Hegseth responded, ‘Bitch, shut up!’” Colin Jost joked.
Jost continued with Hegseth after the Fox News host said he won’t drink if confirmed for Trump’s cabinet position with the SNL star joking, “But if he isn’t confirmed — Look out!”
The comedy duo also sneaked in some jokes about Biden talking about the White House’s Christmas decor theme this year being called “A season of Peace and Light,” with Jost joking, “Which is tough because Biden is always being told not to go towards the light.”
Che continued on the Biden joke train saying the POTUS had traveled to Africa, joking, “Unfortunately, he said it was to visit the birthplace of his friend Barack [Obama].”
