“Saturday Night Live” featured Vice President Harris in its cold open on Saturday and her interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier. The skit featured Alec Baldwin as Baier.
“Thank you, Brett,” Harris, who is played by Maya Rudolph, said. “The pleasure is neither of ours.”
During the skit, Rudolph, as Harris, spoke about her record as a former prosecutor, and threw out lines from viral memes. Baldwin, as Baier, accused her of “just looking for a viral moment” but Rudolph assured him she was appearing on the network to reach across the aisle.
Additionally, it showed a spoof clip of former President Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, during his recent town hall in Pennsylvania where he took questions from Latino voters and held a dance party. It also showed the Baier and Harris sparring at times over her record and criticisms of former President Trump.
Harris sat for an interview with Baier on Fox News earlier this week. The interview was at times contentious and the two debated immigration, Harris’ record in office and more.
Trump, who canceled his 60 Minutes interview, has often been interviewed by Baier. The interview was Harris’s toughest yet and the two sparred frequently at spoke over one another.
Harris was taking a risk by appearing on the conservative network with just weeks until Election Day, but her recent media blitz is meant to make up for lost time on the campaign trail.
Harris has participated in a media blitz lately. With just weeks left until Election Day, she’s trying to get out in front of the public as much as possible. According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Harris leads by 2.1 percent nationally based on an aggregation of polls.
