ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office (SMCSO) said a high school student is facing criminal charges after he told another student that he had a gun on campus.
On Thursday morning, SMCSO received a report that a Chopticon High School student told another student that he had a gun. The Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the school’s campus immediately and located the student who made the statement.
Deputies worked with high school administrators and the Board of Education Safety and Security team to search the student and the school’s campus.
SCMSO said authorities did not find a gun during the investigation. However, the student will still face criminal charges, according to deputies.
