Simone Biles is hinting that her legendary Olympic gymnastics career may be over. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, which named Biles its athlete of the year for her record-breaking performance at the 2024 Olympics, she explained: “Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.” The seven-time Olympic gold medal winner also emphasized the personal sacrifices another appearance at the games would demand. “If you go back, you’ll be greedy,” she said. “Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now? When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?” Biles, 27, married Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens in 2023. She has been a member of the American national team in the past three Olympics, medaling 11 times.
