NEW ORLEANS (NEXSTAR) — Telehealth robots are being repurposed during Super Bowl week to give sick children the chance to experience the NFL’s biggest event.
Pediatric patients are able to control these robots, allowing them to participate in various Super Bowl events remotely.
The robots will be present at multiple activities include media days, the NFL Experience, and even on the field before the game starts. A few children even had the chance to interview players during Opening Night.
OhmniCare, the company operating the robots, has partnered with the NFL and Ochsner Children’s Hospital to make this initiative possible.
More than 30 children are expected to benefit from this opportunity, with hopes to expand the program to include other outings in the future.
