THIS is the sickening moment an elderly couple hurled vile racist abuse and threw water at a nurse in a viral video.
Shocking footage shows the pair launching a foul tirade at a Filipino NHS worker in a park after she asked them to control their dog.
Fyona Bairstow, 72, and Michael Bairstow, 77, were both yelling hateful slurs, grabbing the woman and even throwing water in her face.
The couple has now pleaded guilty to carrying out a racist assault after the clip spread rapidly across social media.
The ugly confrontation erupted at Manor Heath Park in Halifax last August after nurse Apple Moorhouse asked the couple to calm their dog, which had frightened her six-year-old daughter.
But instead of apologising the pensioners exploded into a vile rant.
Video filmed by Ms Moorhouse shows Michael Bairstow hurling water at her before sneering: “Go back on the boat.”
He then mocked migrants crossing the Channel, making rowing gestures and asking: “Have you got a rubber boat? Did you come across the Channel?”
At one point he was also heard shouting: “Ban the immigrants.”
The disturbing footage also shows Fyona Bairstow confronting the nurse as she filmed the abuse.
She is seen grabbing the victim’s arm and trying to snatch her phone.
Then the woman threatened: “I’ll make you so bloody sick you’ll wonder what the hell is going on.”
In a statement read to the court, Ms Moorhouse said the pair immediately became “very hostile” after she asked them to control their dog.
She said Michael Bairstow began telling her to “go back to your dinghy” while making swimming motions with his arms.
The situation turned even more frightening when she tried to leave.
Ms Moorhouse said: “When I tried to walk away the female pulled me back by my ponytail causing my head to go backwards.”
She added the pair were “very racist”, repeatedly turning the confrontation into an attack about immigrants and even calling her a slave.
The court heard the violence escalated when another woman stepped in to defend the nurse.
Michael Bairstow punched the other member of the public in the face.
He then hissed: “Sticking up for immigrants, who do you think you are?”
At the court hearing he admitted an additional charge of assault by beating.
The couple, from Shelf near Halifax, appeared at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and were released on bail ahead of sentencing on April 15.
They refused to answer questions or apologise as they left court covering their faces.
Speaking outside court, Ms Moorhouse — who is a British citizen — told ITV the ordeal has left her feeling shaken and constantly looking over her shoulder.
She said: “I feel anxious obviously, every time that I think back, I feel upset. It’s a big thing, racism, and it needs to be dealt with.”
Ms Moorhouse added she had worked in healthcare for more than a decade but now feels frightened about returning to the job she loves.
