A fire that engulfed a shed in Victorville led first responders to what are believed to be the remains of at least one person Tuesday evening.
Deputies were dispatched to the home on Chia Court around 5:22 p.m., where they found a backyard shed fully engulfed in flames.
Fire personnel doused the flames and then located two suspected human jawbones during the subsequent investigation, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release issued Thursday.
“While at the scene, detectives located additional suspected human bones,” authorities said.
The remains were turned over to the San Bernardino County coroner’s office to determine which bones are human and “attempt to identify the deceased person,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
Anyone with further information regarding the case was urged to contact the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904.
