ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — A judge in Montgomery County sentenced a man to spend more than four decades in prison for his role in a shootout that happened in Rockville in 2023.
On Sept. 27, 25-year-old Zachary Ciccantelli, of Rockville, was sentenced 45 years, according to the Montogomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. After he is released, he will be placed on supervised probation for five years.
This sentence comes after Ciccantelli and 21-year-old Callen Baker, of Jefferson, were found guilty on several charges in May.
According to the Attorney’s Office, the shootout happened on March 1, 2023, in the 700 block of Monroe Street, when Ciccantelli and Baker began shooting at a group of people recording a music video. Police said several victims fired back.
The shooting took place as a school bus was dropping off children.
During the investigation, police released videos of a doorbell camera and from the school bus. In one video, the sound of several gunshots could be heard and one person was seen running for their life.
It was later revealed that Baker gave Ciccantelli a gun and drove the getaway car.
On Sept. 6, Baker was sentenced to 30 years in prison with five years of supervised probation.
The judge recommended both Ciccantelli and Baker be admitted to the Patuxent Youthful Offenders Program while incarcerated.
