Residents are on edge as police appear to have few leads in their search for a homicide suspect who left a man dead in his Valley Village neighborhood apartment over the weekend.
The victim, identified as 54-year-old Menashe Hidra, was found dead on the floor of his apartment during a welfare check at the Ashton Sherman Village Apartments on the 12600 block of Riverside Drive on Saturday.
Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department have not said how Hidra was killed or whether any other crimes were associated with his death.
There was also no description of the suspect who remains on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous.
A detective told KTLA’s Carlos Herrera that the suspect’s disappearance is “very worrisome.”
Residents, some of whom have complained about a lack of security at the apartment building, remain uneasy after being told to stay on alert as the investigation continues.
Some residents also told KTLA they have called police about homeless people living on the roof and believe the killer is possibly a transient.
Police have not confirmed any of the information.
Anyone with details about the case was asked to contact the Operation Valley Bureau at 818-374-9550. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or go to the lacrimestoppers.org website.
