A 16-YEAR-old girl has been followed and harassed by a stranger who was “staring at her” in a Sainsbury’s.
Detectives probing the terrifying incident have released an image of a man they would like to speak to.
The 16-year-old was shopping on Greens Lane in Nottingham on Sunday, November 9, when she noticed a man was staring at her.
When she left the shop the man followed and then approached her outside.
The man reportedly paid her compliments and asked her where she lived before talking about property that he owned.
The terrified schoolgirl said the interaction made her feel “scared” and “intimidated.”
When a brave shop worker intervened the man fled the scene.
Officers have carried out a number of lines of inquiry to locate the man but so far, they have been unable to identify him.
Nottinghamshire Police are now calling on the public’s help to locate the suspect.
PC Olivia Pettitt, who is investigating the incident, said: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and made the girl feel scared and intimidated.
“We take all reports of harassment and intimidation extremely seriously.
“We have carried out a number of lines of inquiry since this incident was reported to us on 9 November.
“We really need the public’s help. We have released an image of a man that could help us further our investigation.
“Do you know the man in the image? Are you the man in the image? Please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
